Food Sensitivity Testing with the BioMeridian MSA Pro


For one year's growing season (spring through fall) at the office of Dennis W. Remington MD (Provo, UT), scratch testing and computerized Sensitivity Stress Testing were done on all new patients. The scratch test was consistent in detecting pollen allergies but was not found to be consistently of value for foods or chemicals.



The patients, dietician, and doctor all strongly preferred the computerized Sensitiity Stress Testing. It was theorized that pollens, foods, or other environental substances could affect other systems than those mediated by IgE response; thus IgE (involved in the scratch test) would not be a reliable indiator for such sensitiity responses. Some patients experienced central nervous system suppression, for example, with exposure to pollens without experiencing the usual sneezing, itchy eyes, and other more common pollen allergy symptoms. These symptoms involved many body systems, such as pain and discomfort in the smooth muscles of the small intestine combined with generalized water retention and swelling, and even clarity of vision changes. Food, pollen, and miscellaneous environmental sensitiity appeared to affect a variety of systems in a variety of people in a variety of ways.



The results of the computerized Sensitivity Stress Testing more closely matched the patient's experience and were more useful in setting up successful patient treatment protocols. Temporary avoidance of foods determined sensitive through cmputerized Sensitiity Stress Testing produced excellent results. Patients overwhelminly preferred the computerized Sensitivity Stress Testing over the scratach test and were willing to pay for the testing even when their insurance declined payment.
